11th Symposium of The International Molinological Society

Portugal, 25 September to 2 October 2004

Hosted by TIMS Portugal, with the co-operation and sponsorship of Tradição Cooperativa Cultural, the 11th International Symposium of Molinology will be held from 25 September to 2 October 2004 at Amadora (near Lisbon) and at Boticas in northern Portugal. There will be the usual programme of papers, informal presentations, and a mill tour from Lisbon to the north of Portugal (500 km) and back, visiting numerous mill sites both ways. A Dîner d’Adieu and the General Meeting of TIMS will be held at Boticas.

Mill Tour

Portugal is a small country that offers a great variety of landscapes and regional culture. So, the Mill Tour is being planned to show participants these different regions (sea-coast, mountains and plains) and the related variety of water, wind and tide mills. The Tour will cross most of the country in air-conditioned coaches, from Lisbon (Tagus estuary) to Coimbra, Oporto, and Trás-os-Montes Region, right across four of the most beautiful provinces of Portugal.
